1- Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple

3- The Jama Masjid

4- Qutub Minar

Known to be the tallest minaret in India, this massive structure was built during the rule of Qutb-ud-din Aibak. The Qutub Minar is, basically, a five-storey structure built using marble and red sandstone. The Qutub complex also has another feature of attraction- the Iron Pillar. The iron used in this pillar shows no sign of rust even to this day! This is one of the most important historical places in Delhi.

6- The Lotus Temple

A more recent historical monument in Delhi is the Lotus temple. It is also known as the Bahai Temple, and it is called the Lotus temple because it is shaped like a lotus. 7- The Humayun’s Tomb

Hamida Banu Begum, who was the wife of the Mughal Emperor, Humayun, after nine years of his demise ordered the construction of this tomb. It was built with red sandstone. The unique feature about this tomb is that it is a garden tomb and was the first of its kind in India back then. Apart from the main tomb, there are four other surrounding structures, which add to the beauty of the complex. The last Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar had taken refuge here during the 1857 revolts away from the British, but was finally captured. It is, thus, historically a very significant monument.

8- Jantar Mantar

Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II who was extremely passionate about his interest in Astronomy took upon himself the task of building this observatory. 9- Lodhi Gardens
